Summer’s here, bringing long, warm days. Take a moment to reflect on our journey and how far we’ve come. Let’s celebrate our progress and keep the momentum going in the fight against breast cancer as we aim higher to reach our next milestone of 25,000 enrolled participants.

The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are important in breast cancer susceptibility, but why?

When functioning correctly, the BRCA1 and BRCA2 are tumor suppressor genes that fix errors that may arise when cells make copies of DNA, while also preventing cells from accidentally growing uncontrollably. Harmful mutations in those genes can lead to cells growing and dividing more quickly, potentially leading to a tumor.

Mission 10K Returns

Thanks to your support, over 8,150 samples have been returned, and we’re closer than ever to reaching our goal of 10,000. If you’ve already sent yours back, we truly appreciate your contribution. If not, there’s still time. Your kit has not expired, and every sample helps bring us closer to discovery.

Growing Pains

We’re working toward reaching 25,000 participants in the next 12 months—and along the way, we’re finding better ways to support you. Soon, you’ll be able to access a self-service portal to find helpful information, track your sample, and explore insights from the research community.

As part of this growth, we’ve encountered some operational hiccups—specifically, we’ve temporarily run out of sample collection kits. If you’ve recently joined and requested a kit, don’t worry: more are on the way and you’ll receive a notification when yours ships.
